Asprin will actually help your plants out by killing diseases. Dissolve 1 aspirin per gallon of water for a plant disease fighting solution. You can just spray this on them to fight disease. Spraying should be one time every three weeks.
When growing indoor plants, the thermostat should be set between 65-75 degrees throughout the day. The temperature needs to be this warm so they are able to grow. If you don’t want you house to be really warm during the cold season, you could use a heat lamp on organic plants instead.
Keep your gardening tools close by to maximize gardening efficiency. You can wear an apron or pants that have a lot of pockets, or use a big bucket or can. If you have your pruning shears, spade, trowel and gloves handy, you will be able to get your gardening chores done much more quickly.
Cover your flower beds with two or three inches of compost or organic mulch. Mulch will minimize weed growth and maximize nutrients and moisture. You will also have a gorgeous and finished organic flower bed.
Be efficient when working in your garden. Don’t waste your time looking for missing tools. By keeping your tools in a certain area, they will always be ready whenever you are. You can use a tool belt, or you may want to wear pants with extra pockets.
Do not underestimate pine as great mulch. Some plants like acidic soil because they have high acidity. Pine needles are an excellent form of mulch for these types of plants. Cover the surface of the ground with a two-inch layer of the pine needles; as the needles break down, they will release acid into the soil and nourish your plants.
Want to kill weeds naturally? Pile newspapers on top of each other to kill weeds. Weeds must have sunlight in order to grow. If the weeds have already sprouted, you can place the newspapers over them and they will die due to lack of sunlight. Newspapers break down over time, and they make a great addition to compost. Add a layer of mulch on top to make it look more attractive!
Use a beer trap to get rid of unwanted pests, like slugs. Bury a glass jar in your garden so that its open mouth is level with the top of the soil. Next, add beer to the jar until it’s about nearly full, with somewhere around an inch of space remaining. The beer helps attract slugs and they end up trapped.
